Should You Replace or Repair Your Furnace?

Did you know the average lifespan of a furnace is between 15 to 20 years? If you’re getting close to that timeframe, it may be time to start thinking about upgrading your furnace. If it's a little too early to tell, we suggest using the 50% rule: when the cost of the furnace repairs approaches 50% of the value of your system, it’s generally time to replace. On the other hand, proper maintenance can extend your system’s life. You can expect to spend about $200 a year in maintenance (filters and tune ups) or you can expect to replace your system every 10 years at $3,500 to $5,000.
